How Did Angelina Jolie Meet Her Second Husband?
Angelina Jolie met Billy Bob Thornton in 1999. They met on the set of ‘Pushing Tin‘. At the time, the stars were involved with someone else – Thornton with his fiancée Laura Dern and Jolie with fellow actor Timothy Hutton. In the film, Jolie and Thornton played a married couple working through the strains of their relationship following a bout of infidelity.
They started dating soon after and were married from 2000 to 2003. Jolie was not Thornton’s first wife actually, she was fifth. “I remember our time together as really being great,” he said in an interview.
Their love life (while it lasted) seemed pretty romantic.”I think this is my time because my family is healthy and I am with the love of my life, I am pretty successful” – Thornton made this statement at Golden Globes while holding Angelina Jolie in his arms. Why Did Angelina and Billy Break Up?
Jolie and Thornton shocked everyone when they married in a Las Vegas ceremony seemingly out of the blue. The duo got married when Billy was still engaged to actress Laura Dern. After the wedding, Dern commented that she “left our home to work on a movie, and while I was away, my boyfriend got married, and I’ve never heard from him again.”
One would say that there must have been a lot of passion between them. Well, there certainly was. Reportedly Jolie and Thornton couldn’t keep their hands off of each other while walking the red carpet at the premiere of ‘Gone in 60 Seconds‘. “I think it was today. My favorite one in a car was today, just before we got here. What is this MTV? Well, here’s… You want me to be honest with you? We f***ed in the car on the way here,” Thornton had said.
The relationship between Jolie and Thornton came to an end in the summer of 2002. The couple didn’t comment on their separation at the time. Everyone came to know later that the reason for the divorce was infidelity. “It took me by surprise, too, because overnight, we totally changed. I think one day we had just nothing in common. And it’s scary but… I think it can happen when you get involved and you don’t know yourself yet.” Jolie told Vogue.
