One of the book series which highly inspired Elon Musk was the seven-book ‘Foundation‘ science fiction series. It was written by author and scientist Isaac Asimov. As mentioned by Encyclopedia Britannica, Asimov’s ‘Foundation‘ is about the collapse and rebirth of a vast interstellar empire in the universe of the future.
The Tesla CEO had tweeted about it saying, “Worth reading Asimov’s Foundation, in the order that they were written.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2017, Musk told, “The lesson I drew from the Foundation saga is you should try to take the set of actions that are likely to prolong civilization, minimize the probability of a dark age if there is one.”
