Life And Career Of Jerry Springer
Born Gerald Norman Springer on February 13, 1944, in London Underground, his parents were German-Jewish refugees. Springer was born at the station as it was used as a shelter during the second world war.
He attended Northwestern University School of Law and got involved in politics. In 1968, he campaigned for Robert Kennedy and later served as the mayor of Cincinnati from 1977 to 1978. Later on, Springer switched his career to media and journalism.
In 1991, he started hosting the volatile and controversial talk show ‘Jerry Springer’. It sparked outrage because of the use of profanity, nudity, physical fights, and discussion on sensitive topics. The show concluded in 2018. He also hosted shows like ‘America’s Got Talent’ and ‘Judge Jerry’.
In 1998, he wrote an autobiography called ‘Ringmaster.’ After retiring from politics, he considered running for the Senate in 2000 and 2001 but opted out of it.

How Did He Die?
On April 27, 2023, Springer died at the age of 79 at his home in the suburbs of Chicago. According to Jene Galvin, his lifelong friend, and spokesperson, the cause of his death was pancreatic cancer.
“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word,” Galvin wrote in a statement.
He added, “He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on.” Springer is survived by his wife, Micki Velton (they tied the knot in 1973), and a daughter named Katie.
