Born on 3 February 1967, in Epsom, Surrey, England, Paul Grant suffered from dwarfism and he could not reach a height of four feet four inches. He played an Ewok in the 1983 flick ‘Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.’
Later on, Grant played one of the goblins in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ and was a member of the Goblin Corps in the 1986 film ‘Labyrinth.’ Apart from acting, Grant was also a stunt performer in some projects.
In the same film, he was a stunt double for Hoggle, a role acted by Shari Weiser and voiced by Brian Henson. His other film credits include Tom Cruise starrer ‘Legend‘ and ‘Willow‘.

On 20 March 2023, Grant passed away at the age of 56. He was found collapsed outside King’s Cross station in north London in the afternoon. On Monday, the next day, he was pronounced dead.
No cause of death has been disclosed. Sophie Jayne Grant, his daughter, confirmed the news of his demise. “I’m heartbroken … No girl deserves their dad to be taken away … He was so well known and loved [for his work]. He’s gone too soon,” she said.
The late actor is survived by his girlfriend Maria Dwyer, his two daughters including Sophie, and a son. He also has his stepchildren and grandchildren. “Paul was the love of my life. The funniest man I know. He made my life complete. Life is never going to be the same without him,” Dwyer said, paying him a tribute.
