Plaza is known for her amazing acting skills and impressive comic timing. But can you imagine someone like her was rejected during an audition for ‘Saturday Night Live‘?
During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress talked about her failed audition for NBC’s long-running sketch comedy show. “I didn’t make it to the Lorne [Michaels] audition, the famous final audition, but I did a preliminary first-round showcase,” Plaza told the host Jimmy Fallon.
She then said that she played a Puerto Rican news reporter who was “always trying to make all of the news stories sexy, even if they were horrific news stories.”

Talking about the second character she did during the audition, Plaza said it was “a pill-popping housewife that had a show called ‘Celebri-Tails,’ where I would just name celebrities and name what kind of tail they would have if they had a tail.”
Neither of those helped her reach the final selection round, also called the Lorne Michael round. However, she ended up interning in their design department between 2004 to 2005.
