Carrie Fisher was one of the most iconic actresses in Hollywood. She is mostly remembered for portraying the role of Princess Leia in the original ‘Star Wars‘ trilogy. Fisher, who passed away in 2016, has one daughter Billie Lourd who is also a successful actress.
Recently, Lourd issued a statement in public and explained the reason why she did not invite her late mother’s siblings to her Walk of Fame ceremony. The ceremony took place on May 4 in Hollywood, California. So let’s find out what Lourd said in that official statement.

Carrie Fisher’s only daughter Billie Lourd issued a statement where she explained why she didn’t invite her mother’s siblings Joely, Todd, and Tricia Leigh Fisher to Carrie’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
The ceremony is slated to take place on May 4 (also ‘Star Wars‘ day) to honor the late ‘Princess Leia‘ star. Her siblings have expressed their surprise over being left out of the event.
“I have seen the postings and press release issued by my mother’s brother and sister,” Lourd said. “I apologize to anyone reading this for feeling the need to defend myself publicly from these family members.”
She added, “But unfortunately, because they publicly attacked me, I have to publicly respond. The truth is I did not invite them to this ceremony. They know why.”

Lourd further revealed that just days after Carrie’s death, “her brother and her sister chose to process their grief publicly and capitalize on my mother’s death, by doing multiple interviews and selling individual books for a lot of money, with my mom and my grandmother’s deaths as the subject.”
She alleged that they never consulted her over these matters. Lourd then added that her mother had a “very complicated relationship” with her siblings about which not everyone knows. She stated that their actions were “hurtful to me at the most difficult time in my life.”
Fisher died on December 27, 2016, at the age of 60. Just a day later, her mother Debbie Reynolds also passed away. Lourd has since made a name for herself by starring in several films.
