Winona Ryder Reflects On ‘Disastrous Relationships’ She Had in Her 30s
While looking forward to the release of the sequel of her upcoming movie ‘Beetlejuice 2’, Winona Ryder is taking a walk back memory lane while reflecting on some of her past relationships.
In an interview for Harper’s Bazaar‘s August Performance issue, the 52-year-old actress reflected on how much her iconic ‘Beetlejuice’ character, Lydia Deetz, reminds her of a younger version of herself.
“In my 30s, I had two disastrous relationships that were — they weren’t wrong, but this was before you would ever think to Google someone,” she told the outlet. “When I look back, I’m like, ‘What the hell was I thinking?’ I was dating the type of person who only lets you know a few weeks in that they’re in a relationship with someone else. And you’re just like, ‘What the f**k?'”
Although Ryder has spent the last 14 years blissfully in the company of her partner, Scott Mackinlay Hahn, founder of the sustainable organic cotton company Loomstate, her former dating experiences are similar to Lydia’s situation when fans reunite with her in ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’.

While the ‘Stranger Things’ actress is quite private about her romantic life, it is no news that the star has been dating Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011, with many aspects still unknown. But in recent years, the actress has occasionally talked openly about her long-term relationship with Hahn, who is a fashion designer and the co-founder of the green and socially conscious line Loomstate.
While chatting in an interview with Time in 2012, he revealed that the brand is focused on making organic cotton as a means of minimizing the environmental damage that traditional cotton farming can cause. Loomstate even designed Chipotle’s uniforms in 2012.
As Hahn told Racked in 2010, his business was born out of a desire to create a company that’s both sustainable and profitable.
Though Hahn generally likes to keep a low profile, he has been supportive of Ryder publicly at quite a few red-carpet events. The couple made their red carpet debut at the premiere of ‘Stranger Things‘ season 1 on July 11, 2016.
