Zachary Levi Believes He Was Misled About His Character In ‘Thor’. Here’s Why

The barrage of controversy surrounding DCU is showing no signs of stopping. Internal rifts between Zachary Levi and Dwayne Johnson have kept the tabloids going. But it looks like Kevin Feige is also getting sucked into it. Allegedly, the Marvel boss kept Levi on the hook about the actor’s role in ‘Thor‘ movies.

Zachary Levi plays Shazam in the DCU. However, the actor started his journey in the superhero realm by auditioning for Marvel heroes Captain America and Star-Lord. He had a brief stint in MCU as Frandal in the ‘Thor‘ movies. The actor implies there were lies in keeping him around for such a thankless role.

Before joining DCU, the 42-year-old actor was cast as Frandal in Marvel Universe

Zachary Levi told Josh Horowitz about previously auditioning for Captain America and Star-Lord. While he didn’t get either of the two, Kevin Feige offered him the part of Frandal. The 42-year-old actor expressed skepticism, believing it would limit his chances of having a more significant role in the MCU.

Zachary Levi said, “I was like, ‘Hey, listen I also don’t want this to preclude me from being able to be another character. If this is the only chip I get to play, then thanks, but I would rather wait for something else.‘” The actor wanted to leave due to the character’s potential being wasted, but the Marvel boss Kevin Feige misguided him into staying.

By now, everybody knows how Dwayne Johnson’s tampering was responsible for the failure of ‘Black Adam‘ and the ‘Shazam!’ sequel. Johnson strong-armed the DC executives into not having members of the Justice Society of America appear in the post-credit scenes of ‘Shazam: Fury Of The Gods.’ Johnson pushed for Black Adam and Henry Cavill’s Superman to be the tentpole of the DCU franchise.

However, Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill were fired under the new management. Zachary Levi responded to an Instagram story by The Wrap, saying, “The truth shall set you free,” suggesting Johnson was responsible for the entire fiasco. Despite all the controversy, the ‘Shazam!‘ star is defending his film and urging people to go and see it in the theatres.
