Zayn Malik’s exit from One Direction has been questioned by netizens over the years. The exit was shocking for the fans as they also believed that as a member of the band, he accumulated a huge fanbase.
His departure was announced by the band in 2015. Malik himself addressed the exit once by saying that he wanted to live as a normal young man who was relaxing somewhere and having some private time out of his busy life.

Zayn Malik Elaborates On His Exit From One Direction
While the public has speculated the reasons behind Zayn Malik leaving One Direction, the singer has finally spoken up about the exit during his appearance on the podcast titled ‘Call Her Daddy.’ He stated that he wanted to be the first person to leave the band.
He further stated: “There was a lot of – look, I don’t want to go into too much detail, but there was a lot of politics going on. Certain people were doing certain things, certain people didn’t want to sign contracts, so I knew something was happening. So I just got ahead of the curve.”
Zayn Malik added that he wanted to get out of it as soon as possible and continued: “I was like, I’m going to jump the gun here for the first time. I’m a passive dude, but when it comes to my music and my business, I’m serious about it and I’m competitive, so I wanted to be the first to go and do my own thing.”

Zayn Reveals How The Band Members Got “Sick” Of Each Other
Zayn Malik said on the podcast that there were underlying issues between the members, adding that they have worked together for five years following which they got sick of each other.
Malik said that all the members were close to each other and they did things that no one will ever understand and that he recalled everything in a “fonder light.” He ended by saying that they ran their course and that he wanted to call his mother at first, asking if it is fine if he comes home.
He continued: “I didn’t really care about what anyone else thought. That’s the type of person I am. I try to close opinions off. I’m not the type of person to define myself on other people’s opinions.”
Following his exit, Zayn pursued a solo career and released his first album, ‘Mind of Mine‘, in 2016.
