Though she is a big name in Hollywood now, it wasn’t always this easy as Roach reveals that she was rejected by five top brands in the early days of her career and as a response, Roach said, “If you say no, it’ll be a no forever.” Here are the five brands Zendaya will never work with because they rejected her early on in her career.
Law Roach Reveals How Zendaya Struggled In The Initial Days Of Her Career
Zendaya has always gone viral for her red carpet looks and for bringing flair to the carpet with her stunning looks. Though we know who to thank for that- Law Roach, of course, the stylist talked about the initial days of her career when brands weren’t that supportive.
If you have ever wondered why the actress has never worn Saint Laurent, Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, or Dior in any red-carpet event, Roach explained why. It’s because these brands refused to work with her when she was just starting as an actor, and as a response, Roach stroked them off forever, never letting the actress wear any of these brands except for editorial shoots.
“I would write the big five. I would write Saint Laurent, Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, Dior, and they would all say, ‘No, try again next year. She’s too green. She’s not on our calendar,’” Roach said. “When I said, ‘If you say no, it’ll be a no forever,’ that rang true for a long, long time.”
“By the time she got to [the cover of] American Vogue [in 2017], she still had never worn any of those designers. She still hasn’t,” he added, “She still has never worn Dior on a carpet. She still has never worn Chanel on a carpet. She has still never worn Gucci on a carpet — any press, any appearance, never. Never. The first time she wore Valentino in public is when she had a contract.”
