One aspect of Wonder Woman‘s world is quietly taking shape in the DC Universe, and it’s crucial to the character’s future. As fans await news on Diana Prince’s eventual debut in James Gunn’s rebooted franchise, there are new signs that ‘Paradise Lost’ is picking up steam behind the scenes.
The First Chapter Of Wonder Woman’s DCU Story Is Taking Shape

The show ‘Paradise Lost’, focusing on Themyscira, was originally announced as part of the DCU’s Chapter One: “Gods and Monsters” slate. However, there have been few updates in recent months. Now, new reports have emerged that veteran TV writers Kira Snyder and Janet Lin are on board, suggesting that the project is still moving forward, even after the long period of silence.

It is a prequel to the other Wonder Woman adaptations, as it takes place before Diana Prince’s birth. The series will examine the political landscape, power dynamics, and the secret quarrels that raged within Themyscira, the mythical island home of the Amazons.
This idea alone makes it one of the most special projects that the DCU has to offer. The show will not be about superheroes saving the world, but about the culture and history of the Amazons themselves. Snyder has worked on other successful dramas like ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘For All Mankind’.
Whereas Lin has worked on ‘Bridgerton’. Based on their backgrounds, it seems like character-driven storytelling and political intrigue may be a significant part of the series. This is the best sign yet that DC Studios is still working on ‘Paradise Lost’ for those who’ve been wondering if it was still happening.
Wonder Woman Remains A Top Priority For DC Studios

As DC Studios continues to build out the universe for Wonder Woman’s eventual arrival in the DCU, the development of Paradise Lost follows. There’s already a standalone Wonder Woman movie in the works with writer Ana Nogueira attached to the project.

Casting for Diana Prince has not started yet. However, James Gunn has insisted that Wonder Woman is a key element in the franchise’s future. That’s already happening in the projects that are expanding her mythology, like the introduction of the powerful sorceress Circe in ‘Creature Commandos’.
There’s no word yet on a release date for ‘Paradise Lost’, and there are still a lot of questions to be answered. Despite all the uncertainty that has plagued the DCU for months, this is a hopeful sign that Wonder Woman’s part of the universe is slowly coming together.
