Game of Thrones’ fans have been debating which moments of the franchise are the most unforgettable for years. Epic battles have made their way into the annals of TV history, from Blackwater to the Battle of the Bastards.

Now, the cast of ‘House of the Dragon’ is hoping that season 3 will bring another contender.

When asked which event in the future might be a pivotal moment in Westeros history, multiple cast members instantly mentioned one: The Battle of the Gullet. They seem to be excited about what they are watching, and it could be something special.

The Battle of the Gullet has been one of the most eagerly awaited events in George R.R. Martin’s source material, and there’s a reason why it’s one of the most anticipated events in the series. The sequence was said to be so large that cast members were praising it, including Clinton Liberty (Addam), who said he had “never seen anything like it“.

Others pointed to the visual drive of the first episodes, lauding the cinematography and emotional narrative that go along with the spectacle. This is a key combination. The greatest battles in the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe have never been won based on action alone. They worked because they were emotionally attached to the characters in the show.

Season 3 seems set to follow suit. With dragons filling the skies and major characters placed directly in harm’s way, the battle promises consequences that will reshape the war between the Blacks and Greens.

Next season will not be just about the classics. There are some new characters emerging and taking on more prominent roles. Addam Velaryon’s is one such journey. Actor Clinton Liberty said that Seasmoke gives Addam what he always wanted, a sense of belonging.

“And from that bonding with him and Seasmoke comes everything else, comes the opportunity to have a relationship with Rhaenyra, Corlys, Alyn, and Baela, as we see. So this one moment has changed his perception of himself, and it’s ultimately changed everyone’s collective perception of Addam,” he told SR.

The dragon’s acceptance changes not only Addam’s perception of himself, but also the perception of others. In the meantime, Alyn’s friendship with Corlys is developing. As the two men grow closer in the midst of war, they will have to face truths they’ve been avoiding for a long time, explains Abubakar Salim (Alyn).

In other parts of the world, a clash between Criston Cole and Gwayne Hightower is likely to be a major one, as their perspectives on leadership and warfare are very different. “They come from completely different worlds, have completely different opinions. And I think that comes to fruition,” Fabian, who plays Criston, explained

All of these storylines point to a theme of season 3: transformation. Duty, loss, ambition, and survival are changing characters all over Westeros as the war expands. Based on the excitement of the cast, it looks like this season will be filled with unforgettable moments, and maybe even one battle that will be etched into ‘Game of Thrones’ history.
