Whether through wit, strategy, or sheer willpower, Batman has faced down some of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe and come out on top. So, let’s take a look at ten heavy hitters the Caped Crusader has managed to defeat.

10. Lex Luthor

Fans know Lex Luthor as Superman‘s arch-nemesis. This diabolical genius represents the peak of human intellect and corporate power. Although Luthor’s primary conflict is with Superman, his schemes often pit him against Batman.

However, despite his genius, Lex isn’t able to beat the Caped Crusader, who has bested him several times. Additionally, his ability to anticipate Luthor’s every move, combined with his own genius-level intellect, has led to Luthor’s defeat.

9. Owlman

Thomas Wayne Jr is the evil counterpart of Batman from Earth-3 and the eldest son of the Wayne Family. Like Bruce Wayne, Thomas Wayne Jr., Or Owlman is a brilliant tactician and fighter.

This version of the Caped Crusader is one of the most terrifying. The Batman Who Laughs is the twisted version of Batman from the Dark Multiverse. He is a version of Bruce Wayne who was infected by the Joker’s toxin.

Additionally, this turned him into a sadistic and malevolent hybrid of Batman and the Joker. Batman had to face his darkest self, and despite The Batman Who Laughs possessing the same skills, knowledge, and intellect as Bruce Wayne, Batman eventually overcame him. 

7. The Hyperclan

The Hyperclan is a team of super-powered aliens from the planet White Martian. They came to  Earth disguised as heroes. They initially managed to fool the world, including the Justice League, with their false promises of saving the planet.

However, Batman quickly uncovered their true nature, recognizing them as White Martians. Through his intellect, he found out about their weakness being fire. Using fire he single-handedly defeated multiple members of the Hyperclan.

6. Circe

The ancient sorceress from Greek mythology,  Circle, was a huge troublemaker and put the DC universe in a compromising position several times. As a powerful sorceress, she possesses magical abilities far beyond Batman’s reach. 

Yet, Batman has faced her and come out victorious. Additionally, his ability to exploit her overconfidence and team up with other heroes like Wonder Woman allowed him to control her 

5. Bane

Bane is one of the few villains who can match Batman both physically and intellectually. Known for breaking Batman’s back during the infamous ‘Knightfall’ storyline, Bane stands as one of Batman’s greatest foes.

Yet, the Dark Knight has consistently returned to take him down. Additionally, this showcases his ability to do anything he puts his mind to. After recovering from his injuries, Batman devises a plan to outwit and overpower Bane and eventually beats him.

4. Kalibak

The brutal son of Darkseid, Kalibak, is a powerhouse who thrives on physical combat. He is considered a god and is the leader of Apokolips’ military forces. So, it’s safe to say that he is a terrifying opponent for most heroes.

However, Batman has stood up to Kalibak on more than one occasion. Additionally, although Kalibak’s raw strength far exceeds Batman’s, the Dark Knight relies on his agility, intelligence, and combat prowess to even the playing field.

3. Ra’s al Ghul

Ghul is the leader of the League of Assassins. He is an eco-terrorist with immortality. He considers Batman his equal and even seeks to make him his heir. At one point the Caped crusader was under his guidance.

However, the two have their differences when it comes to their goals. So, they have clashed countless times, with Ra’s seeing Batman as both a worthy adversary and a potential successor. In their battles, Batman often defeats Ra’s not just through physical combat but also strategically.

The tyrannical ruler of Apokolips, Darkseid is one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe. So, Batman’s victory over Darkseid was nothing short of legendary. In ‘Final Crisis’, Batman uses a Radion bullet, the only weapon capable of killing a god, to wound Darkseid.
