Just like the royals, the James Gunn–Henry Cavill debacle seems never-ending. It all started when Gunn took over DCEU with the vision of rebooting the entire franchise. With it, age became a major drawback and apparently, the only reason why Cavill was fired from the role of Superman.
Gunn was a victim of the fans’ outrage and backlash for axing Cavill from the role. Later Gunn introduced David Corenswet as the new face of The Kryptonian Hero. Seems like Cavill might join the Marvel Cinematic Universe embodying the role of Captain Britain. Amidst the rumors of ‘The Witcher’ star joining the MCU, he still might have a chance at DCU, but not as Superman.

What Role Did James Gunn Offer Henry Cavill?
Fans’ excitement reached its peak when Henry Cavill returned as Superman in Black Adam’s post-credit scenes. But soon the DC buffs were faced with disappointment when James Gunn announced David Corenset as DC’s latest Man of Steel. Just when everyone believed that Henry Cavill’s DC journey hit a dead-end, reports surfaced in March this year that James Gunn met with Henry Cavill in December last year, to talk him into assuming another character that could be integral to the former’s new DCU plans.
The fans have speculated that Gunn might have offered Henry Cavill the role of Frankenstein. But there is also a possibility that Cavill might join Gunn’s Creature Commandos. The Creature Commandos are a team of military superhumans originally set in World War II.

James Gunn Addresses Fan’s Query Regarding Henry Cavill’s New Role
The new boss of DC realized that he can’t get away with any controversy involving Henry Cavill. And now when Cavill expressed his interest in playing Captain Britain from Marvel, there are chances that James Gunn might reel Cavill back into DC. Unlike other directors, James Gunn makes it a point to stay active on Twitter answering all of his fun’s queries.
On March 7, James Gunn clarified, “Completely false. We have our Frankenstein – our first choice – & it’s not Henry. Was never discussed with him.” Gunn further added, “It’s on various news sites & I was asked about it. You might consider that this bile you think comes off in my post has more to do with your framing than what I’m actually saying. I’ve said in the past we’ve discussed other roles with Henry – just Frankenstein is not one of them.”
