Pressure intensifies on James Gunn as ‘The Flash’ has proven to be another box office dud for DCU. Fans have been disappointed with the much anticipated solo film debut of the Scarlet Speedster. With ‘Superman: Legacy,’ James Gunn is ensuring repeat past mistakes aren’t made.
James Gunn has done a fine of keeping the auditions under wraps until now. Reports have come about the final auditions for ‘Superman: Legacy.’ These reports claimed that Gunn auditioned six actors at the Burbank lot of the Warner Brothers studios. The screen tests have been assembled, and hopefully, there will be an official announcement in the coming weeks.
James Gunn’s Final Screen Tests For ‘Superman: Legacy’
Despite the secrecy, details have emerged about the auditions for ‘Superman: Legacy.’ According to the reports from ‘The Hollywood Reporter,’ the first audition occurred on June 17. James Gunn divided his potential candidates into three pairs – Nicholas Hoult and Rachel Brosnahan; Tom Brittney and Phoebe Dynevor; and David Corenswet and Emma Mackey. They read and filmed several scenes from James Gunn’s script.
Another round of auditions on June 18 saw Hoult, Brittney, and Corenswet saw screen testing with costumes. Interestingly, Emma Mackey was the only one brought for the second round of auditions. However, it doesn’t mean she’s necessarily secured the part. It’s most likely a matter of availability. Gunn is believed to have prepared a cut of screen tests and could make official announcements this week.

‘Superman: Legacy’ Presents A New Take On Man Of Steel
The most crucial detail about ‘Superman: Legacy’ is it’s not an origin story. James Gunn has confirmed his film is going to a Superman involved in crime fighting for a while. He recently announced that some members of the supervillain team ‘The Authority’ will pop up in the film.
There’s still the question of casting Lex Luthor and the members of ‘The Authority.’ Alexander and Bill Skarsgård are believed to be on the shortlist to play the brainiac antagonist. The film has a release date of July 11, 2025. It gives the co-chairperson and CEO of DC Films more reason to make an announcement as soon as possible
