In a very weird opinion, there should be days set aside to celebrate the comic vigilantes. For sure, Sheldon Cooper will be the first one to sign a petition for it. Comics have been a huge part of the entertainment sector since the beginning of time, so much so that it has incorporated itself into the culture as well. This year’s September 16 is extremely special, as comic geeks from around the world will celebrate their beloved superhero, the vigilante of Gotham City with Batman Day.
Superheros have always been an inspiration to all the kids who have once been bullied out there. Other than their extravagant lifestyle and the ability to save the world, they are pretty much human which makes it easier for the audience to relate, especially leading a masked dual life. It is actually an honor to take a day out and celebrate these heroes, who fight crimes as well as inspire ordinary people like us to fight for our rights.
The History Of National Batman Day
For more than eighty years, a guy in a mask with a dark cape has been the protector of justice on the streets of Gotham City. It was on July 23, 1939, that Batman made his first appearance in Detective Comics #27. The kids and the adults of that era couldn’t get enough of these graphic stories that depicted good defeating evil in a dramatic and exciting way. Eventually, Batman became one of the world’s best and most loved superheroes of all time, which hasn’t changed even now.
The first Batman Day was originally celebrated on the anniversary of Batman’s first-ever appearance in 1939. While in the first year, in 2014, the day was observed on July 23 as the 75th anniversary, the following year the day was moved back by a few months to the third Saturday of September. This shift was made to basically coincide with San Diego’s Comic-Con. And this year The Batman Day falls on the 16th of September.
