James Cameron is one of the biggest blockbuster filmmakers of all time. These days, Cameron is gearing up for ‘Avatar: Way of the Water.’

Cameron has directed some of the most commercially successful films in history, like ‘Titanic‘, ‘Avatar‘, ‘Terminator‘ and ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day‘ among others.

He was born in Canada near Niagra Falls but shifted to Los Angeles in his teens. He joined Fullerton College in 1973 to study physics but switched subjects to English. However, he left the college at the end of 1974.

During this time, Cameron worked as a truck driver to sustain himself. He was also doing other odd jobs like a janitor and writing in his free time. The future director taught himself everything about filmmaking and visual effects through reading.

In 1978, Cameron quit his job and made a science fiction short film titled ‘Xenogenesis.’ The film got him a job in B-grade low-budget Hollywood films where he worked in various departments. After a couple of years, he successfully transitioned into film direction with ‘The Terminator.’

Cameron is currently gearing up for ‘Avatar: Way of Water‘, which is slated to hit the theaters in December. There are four sequels that are planned for release.

However, the 68-year-old director is not going to direct the later sequels. “I’ve got some other things I’m developing as well that are exciting”, he said in an interview.

“I think eventually over time – I don’t know if that’s after three or after four – I’ll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that I’m also interested in. Or maybe not. I don’t know.”
