Drake Approached The Directors Of ‘Jeen-Yuhs’ For Narrating Kanye West Documentary
In an interview with ‘Connection Is Magic with Samson Shulman‘, the directors Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah of ‘Jeen-Yuhs’ shared how Drake tried to convince them to narrate Kanye West’s documentary.
Simmons explained, “It was Drake that saw it, they were sending out teasers to certain people and Drake got one. When he saw it, he was like, ‘Kanye ask Coodie if I can narrate? It would be big.'”
Simmons explained that it won’t be the best idea as only one week was left for the documentary to release on Netflix and it had already premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. He also stated, “Me and Drake were going back and forth about it. Like, ‘Man, you know, I just want to be a part of [it]. … We’re doing this for the dreamers, it ain’t about me and Kanye!’ … And then Kanye hit [back], ‘Drake, main narration.'” Ye famously took a screenshot of the conversation and asked social media if he should let Drake narrate the documentary, because, as he put it, he wanted to “let the public decide.”
