Escanor has won over many fans since his debut in Season 3 of ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ anime because of his special talent, “Sunshine.” Escanor, who is weak at night, develops into one of the series’ most powerful characters during the day. Sunshine’s power progressively rises throughout the day, peaks at midday, and then gradually decline to his baseline level at night.
It’s interesting to note that Escanor’s personality shifts along with his growth in energy, going from a shy man at night to a haughty Holy Knight during the day. So, how did Escanor gain this power?

Who Is Escanor?
The man referred to as “The Strongest Holy Knight” throughout the Kingdom of Liones is Escanor of the Seven Deadly Sins, a former second prince of the Kingdom of Castellio. Sunshine, his intrinsic power, earned him the reputation of being extremely powerful during the day and gradually diminishing with the sinking of the sun, leaving him frail and obedient at night. His Divine Axe, Rhitta, is his Sacred Treasure.
Escanor wears glasses and has a mustache. Escanor is dressed in a bartender’s suit, which, despite being a little big, seems to fit his non-sunshine physique much better than his former outfit. During his first formal appearance in the plot, he briefly wore glasses. His back has the sign of a lion’s head.
Escanor’s character and strength greatly alter between day and night. He is timid, subservient, and invariably nice at night. While he acts haughtily, arrogantly, and domineeringly during the day, at night he decides to judge those he believes have sinned, such as those who play with people’s emotions. Although at night he has reprimanded himself for losing control during the day, both personalities seem to be genuine versions of him, and he remembers everything he does in either one.
How Did He Get His Powers?
Escanor had this power since he was a child. He initially thought he was cursed since he had trouble managing his emotions throughout the daytime due to Sunshine’s influence. Escanor himself didn’t understand why he was given this power, though.
‘The Seven Deadly Sins‘ Season 5 changes that. It is reported that Mael lost his Grace as a result of his deeds as a demon soldier after it is revealed that Esterossa is actually the Archangel Mael. Sunshine was this grace. In Episode 10, “The Salvation of the Sun,” Mael claims that the divine force had to leave him because of the crimes he did after Gowther corrupted him. After 3,000 years, Grace chose Escanor as its new host, making him one of the most powerful characters on the show.
