‘Ms.Marvel’ is an American television miniseries based on the Marvel comics character Kamala Khan or Ms. Marvel, developed by Bisha K. Ali for the streaming service Disney+. It is the eighth television series developed by Marvel Studios in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Iman Vellani, who plays the titular superhero, is endearing from the start. She feels that she stepped out of a comic book to portray the part. There is always that glint in her eyes that we identify with superheroes, and that joy that contrasts with the occasional glimpse of teenage anguish. Her character is rather complex for a typical teen superhero. Recently, the actress revealed a secret which she discovered too soon about Marvel. And, it was revealed by the one person who can’t keep secrets – Tom Holland.

How Iman Vellani Got To Play The Marvel Superhero
Iman Vellani appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon‘ for a wonderful conversation. She also revealed her enthusiasm for Marvel’s superheroes, raved over meeting with Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige, and described how she earned the lead role in Marvel’s new superhero series.
She said, “My aunt forwarded me a WhatsApp of the casting call. It was super sketchy, I don’t know what casting calls look like. But I’m like, obsessed with Marvel, obsessed with ‘Ms. Marvel’, read all the comics in high school and dressed up as her on Halloween. I sent in my self-tape at like 3 a.m., I wasn’t gonna do it. And then the next day I get a call, they were like, ‘Do you have a lawyer? We wanna fly you to L.A.’ And I was like, ‘I have a math test, but can we like — we’ll figure this out!'”
When Tom Holland Revealed A Major Secret
Given that her character Kamala Khan is also a major admirer of superheroes, Vellani being a passionate Marvel nerd is really suitable. The actress also discussed learning Marvel secrets before they were revealed, as well as seeing ‘Spider-Man‘ actor Tom Holland for the first time while half-dressed in her make-up trailer. Spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘ and have managed to dodge all information about it.
“And he goes ‘So like, what’s your show even about?'” said Vellani. “And I’m like, ‘Oh, what’s Spider-Man [No Way Home] about?’ Cause I’m trying to be smart with him. And he fully just like shows me a photo of like, him with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. And I was like, ‘Dude.'”
The series is now available on Disney+.
