Though both were on opposite ends of the coin, their end goal was the same. Madara and Hashirama were both founders of the Hidden Leaf Village. Their friendship prevailed through thick and thin times, as they both aimed to create a place for their clans to live in peace. Madara looking through a leaf hole and naming the village, became a popular incident that made the fan base wonder why he turned against those people later.

As power grew between both clans, the Senju was afraid of the Uchiha clan’s power. Their Sharingan had untouched mysterious power which the Senju clan thought was a threat. With that in mind, the Senju offered the Uchiha clan the position of the military of the village. While some thought it to be a great honor, it was in a way to subdue them.

The Start Of The Storm

Madara being the leader of the Uchiha clan was of course very unhappy with the outcome, moreover as his people accepted the ideals of the Senju. An internal storm started brewing between them, but the lid to it blasted after Tobirama killed Madara’s younger brother, Izuna Uchiha. Now it was obvious Madara won’t stay silent after his family got killed, moreover serve them.

To make matters worse, Zetsu manipulated the Uchiha clan’s religious tablet. He changed a few words, which led Madara to misunderstand and turn against Leaf Village. Madara believed that his whole clan will get killed and the only way to save them was the Infinite Tsukuyomi. This Jutsu will not only lead to the death of thousands of innocent people but will also not help in reviving the clan.

Though war broke out between Madara and Hashirama, the former barely escaped death while the world thought he died. In all these misunderstandings, Zetsu, as well as Danzo, were the leads. They manipulated people into starting a Fourth Shinobi War.

Danzo moreover collected the eyes of the Uchiha people and used them against war, naming them the Izanagi Arm. Madara failed to protect the village, and his plans were haywire. Itachi in the end massacred his own family and the clan, leaving only his baby brother (Sasuke) out.

Madara had reasons for turning his back on the Leaf Village, and we can’t hate him for it. He was also manipulated by Zetsu. If he knew about it, he would have single-handedly put an end to him. But that didn’t happen. His misunderstanding about the Infinite Tsukuyomi was later passed on to Obito. He, therefore, created the Akatsuki and all things went south as we all know.

In the end, Madara realized his mistake and after his last fight with Hashirama, they even joked if they should go for drinks in the afterlife. Madara jokingly stated, that doing so may make Tobirama run after him again. Just like Sasuke and Naruto, these two shared an impeccable bond, though they had to turn against each other in certain circumstances.
