Top 5 Detective Films/Shows On Netflix
1) Sherlock Holmes
The pioneer of all Holmes. 2009, film adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s clever character stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as Sherlock Holmes and Watson respectively. This detective film will most definitely satisfy your hunger. ‘Sherlock Holmes‘ follows the duo as they solve mysteries in late-19 century London.
2) The Mask Of Zorro
‘The Mask of Zorro‘ tells the story of crusader Zorro (Antonio Banderas) who helps to assist Don Diego de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins) attempt to find his daughter and avenge his wife’s death. There’s romance in this for fans of the Enola – Tewkesbury side plot and there’s also sword fighting. A proper romantic detective film.
3) Criminal
This is one of my favourite detective shows! ‘Criminal’ is actually a collection of four different TV shows under one single umbrella. Each of the series takes place in a completely different country- France, Germany, Spain, and the UK. The story of each country runs for three episodes, and each of them focuses on a criminal being interviewed by the police.
4) The InBESTigators
Here is something great for the younger audience who are keen on watching a series in this genre. ‘The InBESTigators’ is an Australian television series that follows the detective agency run by children. With their office in Ezra’s (Aston Droomer) backyard, and led by Maurie (Anna Cooke), they come together with their individual set of skills to solve mysteries in the neighborhood.
5) Peaky Blinders
‘Peaky Blinders’ will go down in history as one of the greatest things to come out of England, right next to David Beckham and the dress Pippa Middleton wore to Kate and Will’s wedding. If you haven’t heard of ‘Peaky Blinders’—either the show or the viral haircut trend- then you should immediately start watching it. It’s technically not a detective show but I am gonna throw this in anyway. That’s how committed I am of this show!
SPECIAL ADDITION!
6) Sherlock
Benedict Cumberbatch’s most famous role in the Arthur Conan Doyle adaptation has justifiably gathered a cult following. His interpretation of the super sleuth Sherlock brings the Baker Street stories into the modern day, with fast-paced plots, clever twists and a brilliant villain in the form of Andrew Scott as Moriarty. ‘Sherlock’ makes the perfect series for binge watching, whether you’re coming to it for the first time or rewatching it as an old favourite. I cannot in my right mind, leave this show out! This is by far the perfect rendition of Sherlock Holmes. I love RDJ and Henry but we got to give it to Benedict for this!
