Jennie often faces “lazy” accusations. There’s been a barrage of videos circulating online, claiming Jennie doesn’t give her all during performances. Critics have pointed out moments where she seems less energetic than her bandmates.

She herself has admitted to the hectic schedule in the interview with Rolling Stones. “But for three years after debuting, we worked nonstop without resting. You know, we were young, in our early twenties. Our sleep systems were breaking down; we weren’t eating properly; I wasn’t hydrating myself — we did that for three to four years, and then started our tour.” But come on, who among us hasn’t had an off day at work? It’s worth noting that Jennie has an incredibly demanding schedule and maintaining peak performance 24/7 is a superhuman expectation.

Jennie’s fashion choices also stir controversy. She’s a trendsetter, no doubt, but not everyone is a fan of her bold choices. In the Paris concert in 2022, Jennie rocked a bra top and incorporated some twerking into her routine. Her boldness and flair were praised by many, while some felt it was too provocative.

Critics flooded social media, labeling her dress inappropriate and accusing her of being an “attention-seeker“. Seriously? Can a 28-year-old adult woman just dress fabulously without all this drama?

Her appearance in HBO’s ‘The Idol‘ stirred the pot even more. Jennie played Dyanne, a role that involved some pretty steamy scenes. While many fans were thrilled to see her acting debut, others were less enthusiastic. In conservative circles, especially in Korea, her performance was deemed too risqué. Some labeled her “cheap” and criticized her for taking on such a role. It’s like a double standard on steroids. Male actors do it, and it’s art. Jennie does it, and it’s scandalous?

And let’s not forget her solo career. Jennie’s debut single, ‘SOLO,’ was a massive hit. However, several fans claimed that YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s management company, gave her special treatment, which sparked accusations of favoritism.

No question Jennie’s mental health has suffered from the constant flood of hate and abuse she receives online. In interviews, she has been open about the stress fame brings and the toll it has had on her health.

Jennie talked candidly about the difficulties of living in the spotlight and how it has impacted her in an interview with Vogue Korea. She stated, “As someone whose every move is in the public eye, it’s my job to put on a new face every time, and I’m always thinking, ‘What can I do differently this time?’”

I had a really busy year last year, touring all over the world, but after it was over, I took a break in Korea to recharge my batteries. I meditated, lay in bed, listened to my favorite music, and just enjoyed the time. I’m always happiest when I come home from the gym and focus on just me,” she revealed in the same interview.

Imagine facing that kind of scrutiny daily. It’s exhausting just thinking about it! Despite hatred, Jennie continues to excel as a BLACKPINK member and solo artist. Her perseverance and ability to sustain her passion for music and performance inspire many people.
