In 2019, a picture of a girl went viral on the internet. That girl was Misty Loman. Adam Bieber, a sheriff in Wisconsin, shared her mugshots on the internet to raise awareness over drug use.

Loman was addicted to drugs and was pale and weak. Her face was shallow and mirrored a skeleton. The sheriff had forgotten to mention that the girl was also suffering from Scleroderma, bone cancer, and Lupus.

Misty, who was into meth, was arrested for drug use. A majority of people on the internet mocked her for ruining her own life without realizing the health issues she was facing. Her substance abuse started after two of her children died, one of them in the womb.

After the sudden fame on the internet, Loman decided to seek help. Since 2020, she has claimed to be sober. She frequently posts her pictures on social media where she looks normal and happy.

Before the viral image, Loman said that she intended to use drugs until her death. “I didn’t want to wake up. I lost all my hair, it got really bad. I lost my kids. I was homeless. I was at rock bottom,” she said.

She tried pursuing treatment but could not afford it as she was jobless because of her addiction. Later on, she joined a treatment center which helped her in her recovery. Since then, she has become a spiritual person.
