The presence of live audiences during the shoot of ‘Friends‘ made the show ten times more iconic with the presence of fans from around the world and the signature laughs after every hilarious dialogue said by the cast members. There was one person, however, who didn’t love the live audience as much. We’re talking about Lisa Kudrow.
As said by Jennifer Aniston herself, the actress who played Phoebe apparently wasn’t a huge fan of the live audience. Here’s what Kudrow has to say in response and if she really hated the live audience as much as Aniston says.
Did Lisa Kudrow Hate The ‘Friends’ Live Audience?
While speaking to Quinta Brunson on Variety’s Actors on Actors, Jennifer Aniston talked about how Lisa Kudrow hated the live audience during the show as she spoke about the cast’s experience on set and what ‘Friends‘ meant to her. The ‘Marley And Me’ actress said, “Lisa Kudrow, by the way, hated when the audience laughed… She’d be like, ‘I’m not done! It’s not that funny.’”
Kudrow however, responded to Jen’s comment in a conversation with ET and said that her dislike for the live audience developed because of how long they would laugh at jokes. She said, “No, that’s not exactly… no, no. It irritated me if they would laugh for too long.”
She also added that the audience was simply excited to be on set as she said, “God bless them. They were so excited to be there that sometimes the laughter would just be longer than if they had laughed at anything else.”

Lisa Kudrow Killed It As The Quirkiest ‘Friends’ Character
Lisa Kudrow’s character Phoebe is one of the most loved characters of the show and has become her signature role despite her successful career that has lasted decades along. Though the eccentricities of Ms Buffay became one of the significant parts of the show, the actress has revealed in the past that it wasn’t really that easy to get into the shoes of Phoebe.
Nevertheless, the character remains the backbone of the show and has even won the actress a Primetime Emmy for the role. Over the decades as ‘Friends‘ started a cult following, Phoebe’s character has stood out for many fans, mostly because of Kudrow’s portrayal and the character’s weirdness mixed with her kindness and values.
