Marvel might have snuck one of the most interesting ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ hints into the official ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer quietly. One of the leaked versions of the video showed a strange planet behind Doctor Doom, which doesn’t seem to be in the final trailer.
At first sight, it may appear to be a simple visual transformation. The planet, however, may have much bigger implications for fans who are familiar with Jonathan Hickman’s Avengers storyline.
The Mysterious Planet Could Be A Dead Earth
One of the most intriguing aspects of the leaked footage is the color of the incursion. Red incursions in Hickman’s comics are the more traditional multiversal collisions, and blue incursions are linked to the enigmatic Mapmakers.

The Mapmakers are fearsome entities that consume entire Earths and leave behind dead worlds which can then be used as markers for future incursions. Their appearance only complicates the already complex multiversal crisis of the Marvel universe.
That makes the planet behind Doom potentially much more important than it initially appears. If it’s indeed one of these dead Earths, then maybe Marvel was giving viewers something that wasn’t supposed to be shown yet. And honestly, that would be exactly the kind of tiny detail fans could spend months dissecting.
Could This Connect Doom Directly to ‘Secret Wars’?
The theory gets even more interesting when Doctor Doom comes into the mix. After a blue incursion, Doom meets a piece of the Mapmakers in Latveria in Hickman’s comic. Eventually, his investigation leads him deeper into the mystery of the incursions and the forces that are controlling the crumbling multiverse.

This doesn’t have to be an exact remake of the story, however. Marvel has already demonstrated its ability to reimagine big comic-book ideas for its film universe. But it is difficult to dismiss the possibility.
And what if the strange world was a lifeless Earth abandoned by the Mapmakers? If it’s taken out of the official ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer, then it may be more than just an editing decision. It may be that Marvel is safeguarding an important puzzle that will eventually lead right into Secret Wars.
As of yet, it’s just a theory, but if Doom’s story follows a loose version of Hickman’s multiversal mystery, this little deleted scene may end up being quite significant.
