Marvel’s future is once again the subject of major rumors, with several unconfirmed reports pointing toward new developments involving the New Avengers, the X-Men, and some familiar MCU heroes.

The new rumors indicate that Marvel might be quietly developing something more than just ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. It may finally be preparing a few characters and teams for the next phase of the MCU.

One of the more interesting claims is that a sequel to ‘Thunderbolts’ is reportedly being developed. If the rumor is true, then several big characters could be added to the New Avengers’ roster. X-23, Red Hulk, Abomination, and Baron Zemo are all rumored to potentially join the New Avengers in ‘Secret Wars’.

These characters would definitely be a wild mix, given the complex histories and personalities. There’s also a lot of speculation about the X-Men side of the MCU. Gemma Arterton and Emma D’Arcy are reportedly in talks for roles in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie, with Arterton allegedly being considered for the role of Moira MacTaggert.

Moira is an especially significant character in the X-Men universe and is related to Charles Xavier, mutant research, and some of the most significant storylines in the franchise. If they cast a familiar actor for the part, it would mean that Marvel has a big plan in place for the character.

Another rumour suggests that Binary may be seen in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. The character is closely tied to Carol Danvers’ cosmic abilities, so her presence would be particularly interesting as Marvel builds out its cosmic mythology. There’s also Monica Rambeau.

The latest rumour is that Monica will be making a return in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, but in very different circumstances. The claim is that she may be able to be controlled by Doctor Doom. If true, Monica might have a pretty dark story.

Given all she has gone through in ‘WandaVision’ and ‘The Marvels’, it would definitely add a layer of emotion to having to serve Doom. Going by the leaks, Marvel’s post-Secret Wars situation could be much larger and stranger than fans realize.
