According to recent rumors, Michael Waldron‘s original script for Avengers 5 has been completely discarded by the Russo Brothers, who are returning to direct ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. 

The shake-up signals a significant shift in Marvel Studios’ approach to wrapping up the Multiverse Saga. Additionally, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is reportedly set to make a small yet meaningful appearance in the film.

It has been a long journey for the Avengers franchise since the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame‘. Initially, Michael Waldron, who directed ‘Doctor Strange 3‘, was handed the reins to ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘ and ‘The Kang Dynasty‘. However, with Jonathan Majors‘ legal troubles casting doubt on Kang’s role as the overarching villain. So, Marvel Studios made a bold decision to shake up its creative team.

So, the Russo Brothers, the directors behind the beloved Infinity War Saga were handed the responsibility. The duo is reimagining the next chapter as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, with Doctor Doom stepping into the spotlight as the franchise’s new primary antagonist. According to insider reports from scooper Daniel Richtman, Waldron’s script for Avengers 5 has been completely scrapped.

Additionally, this suggests that the Russos are starting fresh. Despite it setting the progress back, the news was welcomed by fans who had mixed feelings about Waldron’s efforts. Some criticized his portrayal of iconic characters, particularly his handling of the Scarlet Witch in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’. Moreover, the rewrite has reportedly caused minor delays, with the screenplay now expected to be completed just in time for production to begin this spring.
