Hugh Jackman suffers from a terrible condition of short-sightedness which restrains him from seeing distant objects. According to IMDB,  Jackman couldn’t even read the cue cards while hosting certain events. Hugh Jackman had to memorize the entire script for Saturday Night Live as well as the Tony Awards to counter his medical condition.

Even though Jackman could bench press over 300 pounds, to maintain the character’s iconic muscularity, he would not match up to his character’s agility, due the poor eyesight which will only restrict him without corrective treatment.
