The studio may have missed a big chance with its upcoming blockbuster ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, according to one former X-Men star. At SpaceCon, actress Famke Janssen announced she’s not involved in ‘Doomsday’.
However, that didn’t prevent her from expressing her emotions about returning as Jean Grey, one of Marvel’s most iconic mutants.
Famke Janssen Believes Jean Grey Still Has A Story To Tell

Janssen said she had not had much time to delve into the darker side of Phoenix in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’. She liked bringing Jean Grey to life, but she said the Phoenix story didn’t really get developed as much as it could have on screen. Phoenix is one of Marvel’s most powerful and fascinating characters, Janssen said.

“I really wish we had been able to explore more of that because it was such a, she’s iconic and she’s so powerful and interesting,” Janssen said. The actress then read a message that was a delight for long-time X-Men fans.
If she gets the opportunity to do it again, she would. “If I had an opportunity, I would show you some really amazing Phoenix.” And that’s why she believes not casting her as Jean in ‘Doomsday’ was a mistake. “I think they made a mistake, but hey, who am I? I’m just a little me who thinks that.”
Years of further life experience and acting have given Janssen more to offer the character than ever before. Her enthusiasm was impossible to miss as she declared herself ready to embrace the darker side of Jean Grey once again.
Janssen Has Left The Door Open For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Later, Janssen was asked if she was good at keeping Hollywood secrets. She laughed and said she’s not very good at keeping a secret and that fans would know if she was working on a Marvel project. When it comes to her lack of ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ involvement, she wasn’t thrilled, clearly.

She isn’t teasing a secret appearance; she’s not pretending to be involved behind the scenes. Rather, Janssen says that there’s still room for her take on Jean Grey in the Marvel universe. It’s yet to be determined whether Marvel Studios will agree. However, one thing is certain: when the time is right for the Phoenix to return to the MCU, Janssen is more than prepared to step up.
