The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been in a weird place lately. After the box office highs of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, the franchise has struggled to recapture the same magic. However, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ might just be the turning point Marvel needs.
The movie itself has been met with mixed reviews. However, its real purpose isn’t just to tell another Cap story, it’s to set the stage for the next big MCU era.
Adamantium’s Discovery Could Bring The X-Men Into The MCU

It’s been years since Marvel Studios got the rights to the X-Men back, and fans have been waiting impatiently for mutants to finally make their grand entrance into the MCU. Well, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ just gave us the biggest clue yet. One of the film’s major plot points revolves around the discovery of Adamantium, a metal even stronger than Vibranium.
The massive and mysterious Celestial corpse left behind in ‘Eternals’ is filled with rare elements. President Thaddeus Ross proposes that the world should share it equitably. For Marvel fans, the word “Adamantium” means one thing: Wolverine. In the comics, Logan’s entire skeleton (including his iconic claws) is bonded with Adamantium.
This makes him nearly indestructible. So the fact that this metal is suddenly a major MCU plot point? That’s no accident. Marvel is probably planning on bringing Wolverine into the mix. With ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ already cracking the multiverse wide open it seems pretty likely.
Is Bucky Barnes Running For Congress?

The ‘Brave New World’ subplot that has everyone scratching their heads? Bucky Barnes is running for Congress. Yes, the same Bucky Barnes who spent decades as a brainwashed assassin, murdering people for Hydra. On the surface, it seems ridiculous.
In case you missed it: ‘Thunderbolts*’ Trailer Might’ve Spoiled ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
However, surprisingly it actually makes sense. The MCU has always played with the idea of redemption. Tony Stark went from weapons dealer to world-saving hero, and Loki transformed from villain to fan-favorite antihero. So, Bucky’s been trying to atone for his past since ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’. Maybe running for office is his way of doing it.
However, here’s the problem: Bucky is also starring in ‘Thunderbolts’. The trailers for the film show him back in action, fighting alongside the anti-hero squad. This isn’t exactly great optics for someone campaigning for Congress. So how does this all fit together? Moreover, it’s going to be fascinating to see how Marvel makes sense of this strange dual life.
