“If Things Happen, They Happen”: Jacob Batalon Talks About His Future In The MCU

Jacob Batalon did a great job as the best friend of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, Ned. Except for 2016’s ‘Captain America: Civil War’, Jacob Batalon made an appearance in every MCU movie in which Spider-Man was present.

In the last Spider-Man movie, ‘Spider-Man: Now Way Home’, Holland’s Peter Parker lost his friends after Doctor Strange casts a spell to make everyone forget who Peter Parker is. This leads Spider-Man to embark on a solo journey, without any Stark tech and his friends Ned and MJ.

Now since it will be a new journey for Spider-Man without his friends, many are wondering about the future of the supporting cast of the MCU Spider-Man franchise. So recently, Jacob Batalon shed some light on this subject.

Jacob Batalon recently sat with ComicBook.com for an interview. During the interview, he was asked about his role in future Spider-Man projects. He said, “I honestly don’t know. I don’t know what any future holds for any of them in that world. I just feel like if things happen, they happen. I hope so. I definitely hope so. It’s sad that he has no friends anymore.”

Later, in the interview, the interviewer asked Batalon if fans would see Ned as the Hobgoblin. He said, “Who knows? Maybe. Hopefully”. For fans who don’t know about the Hobgoblin, it is the alter ego Ned takes on in the comic after going the dark side.

During his last appearance in 2021’s ‘Spider-man: No Way Home’, Ned was using Sorcerors’s sling ring to open portals. MCU can also explore this Sorceror path for Ned. In case they indeed turn him into a bad guy, the fight between Spider-Man and Ned practicing dark mystic arts would actually slap.

The next Spider-Man project in MCU will focus on the solo journey of Peter Parker. In the past films, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker was accompanied by mentors, be it Tony Stark, Nick Fury or Dr Strane in some way.

Now, fans will see a more accurate version of Spider-Man with very limited resources and a classic suit that lacks Stark Tech. In 2023, Kevin Feige confirmed that they are working on the next installment of the Webslinger’s movie.

The time frame for the release of ‘Spider-Man 4’ is currently unknown, however, fans can expect it to be released in phase 6 of MCU.
