He further added, “I think that there’s something about being original. We’ve seen different versions of Professor X. Wouldn’t you like to see me play a character in a Marvel movie who is original, and new, and fresh? So, mark my words: This will happen sooner than you think.”
Earlier, there were some expectations that Esposito might play the role of Professor X in a new X-Men movie. This isn’t a rumor but a fact because the actor made it clear to Marvel that he would like to play the role of Professor X. However, much has changed since Marvel has made various changes in their storylines, hence a different role could be expected for Esposito.

Potential Roles Of Giancarlo Esposito In MCU
According to the speculations Esposito’s Professor X role is not in progress right now. His desire to play a Marvel hero is exemplified by his desire to play Charles Xavier, which opens up various possibilities for him to cover in the MCU. As he has a history of antagonist roles, it would be of no surprise that he might continue with his darker side.
