James Gunn Expresses Frustrations Over Chris Pratt’s Character In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

These few years have been a whirlwind for James Gunn, from getting fired by Marvel for past tweets to leading their rival studio. ‘The Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3’ is the now studio head’s Marvel swan song. It promises a joyful ride and an emotional farewell to Marvel’s most entertaining trilogy.

Ahead of its release, James Gunn is opening up about the years leading up to his DC gig. The actors stood by him through thick and thin. He’s also not sugarcoating his words about ‘Endgame’ and ‘Infinity War’ movies. He’s openly critical about how his ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ characters weren’t fairly treated.

James Gunn is speaking out against Star-Lord’s character arc in the ‘Avengers: Infinity Wars.’ Speaking to ‘The Hollywood Reporter,’ he admitted, “They did some things that I wouldn’t have wanted.” In ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ Star-Lord/Peter loses sight of the bigger picture, and the Avengers are denied their best shot at getting Thanos.

‘The Guardians’ filmmaker also strongly agrees that had Gamora asked Star-Lord, he would have sacrificed her for the greater good and saved millions of lives. Gunn also admits to having a few regrets about how the movie pokes fun at Drax’s (Dave Bautista) supposed power of invisibility.

With Gamora’s death lingering, Peter Quill and his rag-tag bunch do their best to move on. At the same time, they have to save the universe again, but failing this time could result in the dissolution of their team forever. This is the first time we will learn more about Rocket’s past, with Adam Warlock finally making his MCU debut in ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3.’

Chukwudi Iwuji, as the High Evolutionary from the ‘Peacemaker’ series, also appears in the movie. He is the mad scientist responsible for Rocket Raccoon’s creation. Iwuji has described his character as “narcissistic, sociopathic, but very charming,” with a touch of Shakespearian flair. In his conversation with Empire, James Gunn likened High Evolutionary to a “classic movie villain” like Doctor Moreau.
