If the latest report surrounding ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ is accurate, Marvel may be setting up one of the movie’s most unexpected character interactions. Professor X and Sentry could reportedly share a major scene, with Charles Xavier among the few heroes who remain deeply cautious about Bob Reynolds and the extraordinary power he possesses.

Bob Reynolds aka Sentry, isn’t simply another powerful superhero. Sentry’s greatest weakness has always been connected to his mind. His enormous abilities are tied to his psychological instability and his connection to the Void, making emotional and mental control just as important as physical strength.

That gives Professor X a unique reason to be concerned. Charles Xavier has spent decades dealing with people whose powers and emotions can become dangerous when their minds are pushed too far. His telepathy could make him one of the few characters capable of understanding what is happening inside his head.

That’s what could make their interaction so interesting. Instead of treating Sentry as a weapon, Xavier could see Bob as a deeply troubled person struggling to control something inside himself. And that distinction could become crucial if the heroes begin debating whether Sentry should actually be trusted.

The reported involvement of Yelena Belova makes the situation even more interesting. After all, Yelena has spent her life around people who can become dangerous when control is lost. She may not understand Bob the way Xavier does, but she could recognize the warning signs.

Sentry’s Biggest Enemy Could Be His Own Self

The most exciting possibility is that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ doesn’t reduce Sentry to simply being the team’s strongest fighter. Characters like Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the X-Men are expected to bring enormous conflicts to the movie.

In a battle involving that many powerful characters, it would be easy for Bob’s strength to become just another spectacle. However, making his psychological struggle central could give Sentry something much more human.

For Bob, Professor X could represent something he desperately needs: someone who isn’t afraid of Sentry, but isn’t blindly impressed by him either. If Marvel actually delivers that dynamic, it could turn what initially sounds like an unlikely crossover into one of ‘Doomsday‘s most emotionally compelling relationships.
