Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has just given some more insight into the creative direction behind ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, and his remarks indicate that the next Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland will be very different from any other MCU Spider-Man movie.

Feige’s comments also indicate that ‘Brand New Day’ could be a soft reboot for the character in the MCU. Unlike the previous movie, which was the biggest multiverse event of all time, Marvel seems to be more interested in delving into the personal issues and duties of Peter.

The initial footage and promotional images have already pointed in this direction, revealing a homemade Spider-Man costume and a character who is now once again navigating between family and crime.
Questions remain about Spider-Man’s involvement in future crossover movies like ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. However, the update makes it clear that Marvel wants audiences to get to know Peter Parker first before they’re thrown back into the big picture of the MCU.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ might be the movie that finally brings the web-slinger to life in a way that’s as comic-accurate as possible for Tom Holland.
Kevin Feige Also Assured A More Traditional Spider-Man

After the multiversal event of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, Marvel seems to be ready to dial back and focus on what made Spider-Man one of the most popular comic book characters of all time. Feige says that ‘Brand New Day’ will be the first MCU Spider-Man film to truly embody the beloved Peter Parker of decades.

“It is the first Spider-Man film that we’ve made in the MCU that is focused on the classic elements of Spider-Man. He’s doing the Spidey thing of living in a rather sad, small apartment, listening to the police scanner and going out and using his great power responsibly,” he told Empire.
Rather than having the resources of the Avengers or world-saving missions, Peter Parker is living in a small apartment, tuning in to police scanners, and assisting people around New York City.
The comments mark a significant shift in direction for the franchise. The previous Spider-Man movies usually tied him to bigger MCU storylines like Tony Stark, Nick Fury, and Doctor Strange. However, Peter is on his own this time. For many longtime fans, Feige’s description sounds remarkably similar to the Spider-Man seen throughout decades of Marvel Comics.
