The current state of MCU is not a very pleasing sight, and a whole lot more complicated. With the upcoming ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ movie joining the MCU, fans are eager to see the iconic X-Men characters interact with Avengers.
But a recent statement to I09 from the Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, dials down the excitement a little. So, let’s unpack his comments and what they might mean.

Kevin Feige Gives Deadpool And Wolverine’ An “8” In Terms Of Its Impact On The MCU
The announcement of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ sent fans over the moon. Deadpool’s humour is over-the-top, which even by comic book movie standards is unusual. Moreover, compared to the more family-friendly MCU, Deadpool is a devil that has no business in the franchise.
However, thankfully fans are getting a proper Deadpool movie with a proper R-rating. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine also finally gets to join the cinematic universe years after his death in ‘Logan’.
Kevin Feige himself hinted at the film’s significance. He compared its potential impact to the record-breaking ’Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ stating, “If ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ is a 9 and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is a 10, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is an 8 in terms of how impactful it will be on the future of the MCU.”
This cryptic statement has fans buzzing with theories. Will Deadpool and Wolverine become key players in the upcoming Avengers films? Or will their paths diverge, leaving them in a separate corner of the MCU?

Feige Also Talked About Deadpool And Wolverine’s Involvement In The Upcoming ‘Avengers’ Films
Feige’s next comment added a layer of uncertainty. When asked about the possibility of seeing Deadpool and Wolverine in the Avengers movies, he offered a very cagey response. “I rarely speak in absolutes like that, right?” he said.
Moreover, he acknowledged the return of Tim Blake Nelson’s character, The Leader, highlighting that past characters can always resurface. However, he also dropped a truth bomb: “We’re going to tell a story in these Avengers movies, and there won’t be room for 100,000 characters in it. So choices will have to be made, that’s for sure.”
Here’s where things get interesting. The MCU roster is already bursting with heroes. The addition of the X-Men creates an abundance of riches. However, it also creates a logistical nightmare.
Additionally, Feige admits that many characters will inevitably be left out of the Avengers spotlight. This doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll disappear forever, but it suggests they might not be central figures in the next Avengers saga.
