Hela was banished to Midgard by Odin and her crown and the source of power were stripped. Hela ended up making her way to the metaphysical realm of Ta-Lo where she learned how to fight and seek inner peace. Episode seven of ‘What If…?‘ season 2 delves into Hela’s journey of inner peace and her path to freedom. She faces her father Odin who seeks to claim the Ten Rings after learning their ability to kill Asgardians.
Hela ultimately defeats her father, offering him mercy. This forgivable act restores Hela’s crown transforming her into a Goddess of Death with a newfound appreciation for life, choosing light to fight the darkness both externally and within herself.

Connection Between Hela And Ten Rings Explained
After defeating her father for the throne, Hela and the forces of Asgard joined hands with Wewu and the Ten Rings, becoming a powerful empire of cosmic guardians traveling the universe to protect the Nine Realms and beyond. The episode ends with Hela and Wenwu going to war against Thanos himself during his conquest of Zen-Whober.
However, Hela acquiring the throne will change everything between her brothers, Thor and Loki. Moreover, Wenwu’s new role as a protector of the Nine Realms alongside the Goddess of Death means he will not settle down with Ta-Lo’s Ying Li, hence Shang-Chi and Xu Xialing will not be born in this reality.
Does Odin Die In Season Two Of ‘What If…?’
Season two of ‘What If…?’ features a battle between father and daughter – Odin and Hela. With the assistance of Wenwu and her newly gained skills from the new Ta-Lo training, Hela managed to use Odin’s power against him. Together Hela and Wenwu were able to separate Odin from Gungir, his spear and source of power.
Defeated by the power of Ten-Rings, Hela offered Odin mercy and regained her crown, Gungir also became hers with Odin’s surrender, giving up the throne of Asgard after realizing that his daughter was capable more than what he ever imagined.
