Eleven months ago, ‘What If…?’ ended with Ultron being defeated and the ‘Guardian of the Galaxies’ returning to their home realities. Since then any updates regarding season two of the Marvel series have been kept under wraps. Amidst the writer’s strike, numerous projects including Marvel TV series and films have been delayed.
‘What If…?’ season one gave a fresh and different perspective of the franchise in Phase 4, which was very much required to hold on to the massive Marvel fan base. The first season began with the new Avengers assembling to fidget another cosmic threat. For instance, Peggy Carter is seen taking the serum and instead of Peter Quill, the Ravagers kidnap T’Challa. When Will ‘What If…?’ Season 2 Release?
Initially ‘What if..?‘ Season 2 was scheduled to release around early 2023, however, that changed when Disney’s official page read Coming Soon instead of Early 2023. Mark Winderbaum, producer at Marvel Studios told Collider, “As you know with animation, it takes a long time to produce. We were fortunate enough to get the green light on a second season early enough to have a chance to release it next year. We’ll see what happens. Obviously, I don’t want to predict the future with this new world we live in, but our intention is to make it an annual release”.
Upcoming Season Cast
The cast members of What If Season 2 includes some of the A-list Hollywood actors. It is rumored that Hayley Atwell, Jeffery Wright, Josh Keaton, Lake Bell, Mick Wingret, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Cynthia McWilliams, and Taika Waititi will appear in season 2.
Cast members from both Black Widow and ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ will make an appearance. Older characters like The Watcher, Peggy Carter, Black Widow and Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Gamora, and many more will show up.

‘What If…?’ Season 2 Plot Details
A.C. Bradley the head writer on hat If….? told Entertainment Weekly, “It’s going to be all-new stories, lots of fun, new heroes, and pulling more from Phase Four than we were obviously able to this season. Hopefully, we’ll see hints of Eternals, Shang-Chi, and the Black Widow characters. The fun of What If…? is that we get to explore the entire infinite multiverse, so we try and bounce around as much as we can”.
Apparently, the story will feature Hela, Captain Carter meeting the Winter Soldier, and Odin battling The Mandarin. Additionally, it will also Marvel’s original character Kahhori.
Who Will Be The Villain Of ‘What If…?’ Season 2
By the end of the first season, Infinity Ultron is defeated, hence he would no longer appear in Marvel’s TV series. However, a Variant of Kang the Conqueror will be the key villain of the entire Multiverse Saga. On the other hand, Scarlet Witch died at the end of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, but Wanda will make an appearance again as the series will explore alternate timelines.
