The merging of Disney and 21st Century Fox Company in 2019 opened more possibilities of an ‘X-Men‘ reboot and a possible Marvel and X-Men crossover. The Marvel movie franchise has set forth its phase 4, and the fans are exhilarated to see mutants returning to the big screen.
The release of the upcoming ‘X-Men ’97‘ animated series and the cameo of Professor Charles Xaviers in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ only added to the anticipation of the fans! The ‘X-Men‘ reboot is becoming real day by day.
The X-Men And MCU Crossover – Where Did It Begin?
The two last installments of the ‘X-Men‘ franchise – Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants were released in 2019 and 2020, respectively. However, the movies couldn’t garner a box office hit and received relatively negative reviews from fans and critics alike. The franchise witnessed its proper closure at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con where the Marvel head, Kevin Feige, announced plans for a mutant-centered film set in the MCU.
The New Mutant Coming To Marvel
According to a new rumour owing to Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is currently casting for an ‘untitled’ show. The casting description stated that the studio is on the lookout for a male actor in his 20s, who will play the role of a Louisiana native named, Talex Beaudreaux. Fans were quick to point out that this could be a hint towards a possible introduction of the character of Gambit to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since, Gambit’s other name was Remy Etienne LeBeau, and he was from New Orleans as well. The studio is also hunting down possible actors who can play Beaudreaux’s parents.
The Russo Brothers Discuss ‘X-Men’ Reboot
‘Avengers: Endgame‘ directors Joe and Anthony Russo shared their interests in the ‘X-Men‘ reboot. During an interview, Joe said, “One of my prized possessions is Incredible Hulk No. 181, which is the first appearance of Wolverine. It’s an important part of my comic book collection. Wolverine being so essential to the X-Men, of course, that would be a fun project to work on and find a new way into it. But, I do think that that’s probably something that [Marvel Studios President and Marvel Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige] has rightfully put aside for a while to introduce some new characters to the world, and bring that back when it’s ready.”
It is understandable that the MCU has a lot of storylines and new characters to introduce. The working of the potential ‘X-Men‘ reboot series is happening along the same storylines. The introduction of the X-Men into the MCU is slowly, but surely in the working.
