Bruce Banner’s Hulk has undergone a complete transformation over the past decade; now, the MCU’s biggest problem is about to be solved with ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’.

Between toy reveals, returning characters, and the movie’s more grounded direction, it’s starting to look like Marvel is preparing to unleash the classic Savage Hulk once again, and honestly, it’s about time.

Hulk has been a bit underwhelming in the MCU for a while now. He was combined with Banner as Smart Hulk, and at other times, he was completely removed from the action during key moments. The rage monster that used to terrorize heroes and villains alike was slowly phased out of the franchise.

It was seen by fans, too. What Hulk lacked in movies like ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Age of Ultron’ was the raw chaos that made him an exciting character to watch. However, that could all change with ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’.

The most bizarre MCU trend is that viewers haven’t witnessed Bruce Banner morph into Hulk on screen since 2012’s Avengers. Marvel has skilfully avoided using it, either cutting away before the change or using it as a quick gag. It’s a surprise given the fact that Hulk has been at the heart of the franchise.

Bruce Banner has made several appearances throughout the ‘Infinity Saga’ and beyond, but the iconic transformation itself has been nearly lost from view. The film has the best chance to make that moment a reality yet, with Bruce Banner set to appear in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, alongside Hulk.

However, if Marvel truly does it, Banner’s out-of-control nature could bring a much-needed element of uncertainty back into the franchise, and that’s just what they need. It’s fun to watch Hulk come out of the woods and either save the day or wreak havoc on the world. The MCU hasn’t played with that dynamic in a while.

Savage Hulk’s Return Could Be Exactly What The MCU Needs

The most recent hint is from the latest ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ merchandise, which is said to refer to the character as “Savage Hulk.” That wording is important because it is directly referring to the Hulk that is finally angry and savage.

If it’s accurate, it would be the first time that a Hulk has been truly rage-fueled since 2015. That’s what makes the film more interesting. When it comes to the unpredictable threat, few characters in the MCU are more unpredictable than an uncontrollable Hulk, and that’s where Spider-Man excels.

The grounded, street-level story of Peter Parker and that kind of raw power could produce a very different vibe than the multiverse-heavy mayhem of the latest Marvel movies. It could be the time for the Hulk to finally return to his prime.
