Iron Man was the true essence of the Avengers and since his death, Marvel hasn’t been the same. MCU isn’t doing well with their movies are mostly failing at the box office. Only a miracle (a good movie) could save its downfall. Well, the miracle is probably working its way, as Robert Downey Jr. aka Iron Man himself is optimistic about joining the universe again.
Robert expressed his admiration for the character and said he would be open to wearing the suit again. So, would it be possible?
Robert Downy Jr. Is Optimistic About Returning As Iron Man
Iron Man has been the most loved and respected character of the MCU. Sadly, the character died in ‘Avengers: End Game‘ fighting bravely with the antagonist Thanos. Since then the character has gone forever. But there is still some hope left for the fans. During an interview with Variety, Robert Downey Jr. shared that he would be down to wear the Iron Man suit again.
Talking to Jodie Foster, Robert responded to his potential return to the MCU. He said, “It’s just crazily in my DNA. Probably the most like-me character I’ve ever played, even though he’s way cooler than I am“.
He added, “I’ve become surprisingly open-minded to the idea. Between ‘Nyad’ and [‘Night Country’] and, for me, ‘Oppenheimer’ and then ‘Sympathizer,’ it really is crazy because we look pretty good. I was actually looking at the stills we were taking, making sure: ‘Do we still look kind of OK?’ I’m like, ‘We look pretty good.”
Right now the possibilities of the character returning in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ are very less, but we could get a variant of the character as teased earlier.

Past Comments By Kevin Feige On Iron Man’s Return
Will Iron Man return? This is the only question that still haunts the fans. Considering his sacrifice for the Avengers and his character’s arc, it was a very calculative move of the makers. His death is still considered one of the changing moves and the beginning of the new era for The Avengers.
Director Kevin Feige doesn’t agree much with bringing back the character. During an interview he made it clear that, “We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again,” Feige said of Tony’s death. “We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”
Robert feels the character is part of his DNA, it’s his identity. But he also feels, that the makers involved, worked very hard to get to that point (Iron Man’s death). Hence, it wouldn’t be fair to undo everything. However, the concept of the multiverse or another variant of Iron Man could make things work a little.
