When it comes to powerhouses in the Marvel Universe, there are a few characters that bear a striking resemblance to DC’s iconic Superman. Sentry, Gladiator, and Hyperion are Marvel’s answer to the question.
Each of these characters has been written with the capability to go toe-to-toe with almost anybody. However, when it comes to a showdown between them, who is the strongest? Here’s what we think.
Sentry
Robert Reynolds aka Sentry is arguably one of Marvel’s most complicated and powerful characters. His strength comes from the “power of a million exploding suns,“. However, what really sets Sentry apart isn’t just his strength; it’s his capability to do anything.

He possesses superhuman strength and speed. In addition, he also has abilities like matter manipulation, reality warping, and near invulnerability. What makes Sentry even more terrifying is his healing factor which would make both Deadpool and Wolverine look like children.
His most significant asset, however, might be his mental instability. Tied to the Void, Sentry is often on the brink of madness. The Void is a malevolent force capable of bringing destruction on a global scale, and when unleashed, Sentry’s power multiplies. Yet, it’s this mental instability that can also be his greatest weakness.
Gladiator
Kallark aka Gladiator, is the leader of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard, and his abilities are directly tied to his confidence. Additionally, when Gladiator is at his most self-assured, his strength, speed, and durability reach near godlike levels.

In addition, he’s flown through suns, shattered planets with his fists, and withstood the most brutal of attacks without so much as a scratch. Moreover, just like Sentry, his powers are somewhat linked to his emotions and how he feels about himself.
His invulnerability, flight, and even heat vision are powered by his belief in himself. However, if Gladiator doubts himself, his powers can weaken. But when his confidence is high, he becomes virtually unstoppable. While this makes him incredibly unique, it might also affect his performance if he comes across enemies who could control his mind.
Hyperion
Marvel’s quintessential Superman analog, Hyperion, has had several iterations. However, the most prominent version is Mark Milton who was also a part of the Avengers. Much like Superman, Hyperion possesses super strength, flight, enhanced senses, heat vision, and near-invulnerability.

Moreover, he’s also been shown to lift entire cities, survive nuclear blasts, and fly faster than the speed of light. However, Hyperion’s power goes beyond just brute strength. His incredible strength is further defined by his surviving two universes colliding with each other.
Hyperion’s powers come from his exposure to cosmic radiation, granting him strength that rivals even Thor and the Hulk. His ability to balance immense power with cold logic makes him one of the most dangerous characters in the Marvel Universe.
Who Would Win?
The battle between Sentry, Gladiator, and Hyperion would definitely be a treat for the action-loving fans. If the fight were purely about brute strength, Hyperion could stand toe-to-toe with anyone. While Gladiator and Sentry have their own mental battles, Hyperion’s logical moves combined with his powers make him a tough contender.

However, previously, Hyperion lost to Gladiator in combat. Unlike Sentry and Gladiator, his strengths have their limits. Gladiator, at his peak confidence, is almost unbeatable. Sentry’s versatility and sheer potential would likely give him the edge. He has abilities that go beyond physical confrontation, such as the power of The Void. This makes him an unpredictable and nearly omnipotent force.
His only drawback is his mental instability. However, if he’s in control, neither Hyperion nor Gladiator could match his reality-warping potential. But in a battle where all three are at their peak, Sentry’s abilities and his connection to The Void would ultimately give him the upper hand.
