While the cameo was brief, it led to a lot of fans wanting more. Additionally, the backstory behind this casting decision is even more intriguing.
Henry Cavill Said Yes to Wolverine Cameo Within 15 Minutes Of Receiving Shawn Levy’s Text
Shawn Levy, the film’s director, while talking to Collider, has revealed how Cavill’s involvement happened. He claimed that it was directly influenced by his abrupt departure from the DC Universe as Superman. “It was not long after the Superman DC shuffling of the deck and it just was on our minds,” Levy claimed.
“And literally then it was the idea, the name, a text, and an answer, all in 15 minutes,” he added. Moreover, the actor’s unexpected exit from the role had left a sour taste among fans. So, his casting as Wolverine was seen as a refreshing change of pace.
Additionally, Levy admitted to being immediately drawn to the idea of Cavill as Wolverine. He also described the casting process as remarkably swift. According to him Cavill was equally as excited about the role and embraced the opportunity to play the ever-iconic Wolverine.
Moreover, while the prospect of replacing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is undoubtedly daunting, Cavill’s charisma and physicality make him a compelling choice. His portrayal of Superman demonstrated his ability to embody iconic characters, and fans were happy to see him tackle the role of the brooding anti-hero.
