Shawn Levy, the film’s director, while talking to Collider, has revealed how Cavill’s involvement happened. He claimed that it was directly influenced by his abrupt departure from the DC Universe as Superman. “It was not long after the Superman DC shuffling of the deck and it just was on our minds,” Levy claimed.

And literally then it was the idea, the name, a text, and an answer, all in 15 minutes,” he added. Moreover, the actor’s unexpected exit from the role had left a sour taste among fans. So, his casting as Wolverine was seen as a refreshing change of pace.

Henry Cavill’s dedication to his role as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ went beyond just the physical transformation. Levy while talking to the Nytimes revealed the cameo took several hours to film. However, what made it worse for Cavill was the constant smoking which resulted in him getting sick.

“He kept that cigar lit and in his mouth for the entirety of the shoot day. I remember hearing the next day that Henry was sick to his stomach because he had been inhaling cigar smoke for eight hours straight,” Levy stated. Moreover, despite the discomfort, Cavill remained committed to the role, showcasing his unwavering dedication to his craft.
