The prospects of a Marvel and DC collaboration are rumored to be catching pace, and we are well aware that fans just can’t wait to see it happen. While the future does indeed hold an opportunity for that, the closest we can get to such collaboration in the present is DCU CEO, James Gunn appreciating the success of Marvel’s ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’.
The film has proven to be a blockbuster with over $438M+ global opening, and it’s just the first weekend since its release. With both fans and critics appreciating the film, James Gunn — the head of Marvel’s rival production DC — also couldn’t resist from expressing his awe at its success. James Gunn Celebrates The Success Of ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’
‘Deadpool And Wolverine‘ has already broken records, marking a dazzling comeback for Marvel after a year of some major lags. While Marvel fans and critics both are celebrating the film, James Gunn, the head of DC, has also come forward to appreciate it.
Gunn took to his social media to congratulate the filmmakers and actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman for the wonderful project and its evident success. “Wow. Over 206M for Deadpool & Wolverine this weekend. So happy for @VancityReynolds, @RealHughJackman, Levy, Kevin, Lou, all my friends over at @MarvelStudios, & movie-goers! Congrats!” Gunn wrote in his X post.

Before joining hands with DCU, James Gunn was part of Marvel Studios for many years and directed some masterpieces including ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’, ‘Doctor strange’, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming‘ and ‘Thor: Ragnarök’ among others. Now as the new head of DC, he has introduced some major changes in the production already, and is expected to renovate it further — a part of which is also speculated to be potential Marvel and DC collaboration.

‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ Takes A Playful Dig At James Gunn

‘Deadpool And Wolverine‘ is being received so well for several reasons including its humor, storyline, gore and the amount of surprises both in terms of plot twists and celebrity appearances. While the film’s promotional videos and marketing gimmicks had made it amply clear that it would be full of cameos, audience are still left surprised by the unexpected celebrities who appear on screen.
One of the many cameos was that of Superman in the film. When Wade Wilson is searching for Wolverine’s variant in a different universe in the film, he comes across Henry Cavill’s Superman. After expressing his excitement, Deadpool tells ‘Cavillrine’, that the MCU will “treat him a lot better than they did across the street.”
This is a direct reference to Henry Cavill’s removal as Superman, as David Corenswet replaced him after James Gunn And Peter Safran took over the franchise. We can only hope that James Gunn got this excellent reference and took it sportingly.
The film released on July 26 and has been doing exceptionally well, marking itself as this year’s biggest R-rated release with 8th position on the chart.
