The latest episode of ‘X-Men ’97’, ‘Tolerance is Extinction – Part 1’, sewn the seed for an epic conclusion of the season. With X-Men on their backfoot with all odds against them, fans are set to “eat good“.
However, in addition to great action, the episode was filled with numerous easter eggs and cameos. There was a reference to Dr Strange and Kamar-Taj and villains like Dr. Doom, Omega Red, and Baron Zemo. In addition to these, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man also made a cameo. However, it wasn’t any other Spider-Man, but the one from ’94’s animated series.

‘X-Men ’97’ Writer Confirms Christopher Daniel Barnes’ Web-slinger
When fans saw Spider-Man on their screen in the final moments of the episode, many suspected it to be the same webhead from the animated series. He was seen swinging while Magneto was radiating magnetic waves to start the war against humanity.
The suit was very similar and thus the chaos began on the X. Fans started discussing whether it was him or another variant of Spidey. The head writer of the show jumped in to solve the mystery and confirmed it was Christopher Daniel Barnes’ Spider-Man. He said, “It is indeed that Spider-Man.“
It was not the first time Spider-Man was seen with X-Men. Spider-Man has a good relationship with mutants, especially Wolverine. Fans might see him again later since it will be a war against humanity.

Will There Be ‘Spider-Man ’98’?
The ’94 ‘Spider-Man animated series’ is up there as the greatest animated TV series by Marvel with ‘X-Men: Animated Series.’ The show had everything that was needed to make a hit Spider-Man show. A good Peter Parker, a good coterie of supervillains, and indulging storylines.
With that version of Spider-Man, fans are wondering if Marvel will revive the series too. The creators already did a great job with ‘X-Men’97’. They are using the Execute Operation: Zero Tolerance storyline for the finale which they left out in the previous show.
Similarly, Marvel can explore new storylines that fans never got to see with Christopher Daniel Barnes’ Spider-Man. Marvel already has a planned Spider-Man animated series in their pipeline, ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man‘. It is slated to drop later this year or in early 2025 so the chances of ‘Spider-Man 98’ are slim in the foreseeable future.
