Marvel’s street-level corner may be about to get much bigger. The next generation of Spider-Man movies starring Tom Holland will reportedly feature Daredevil and the Defenders.

While fans will have to wait for official confirmation, the idea of Spider-Man teaming up with the Defenders feels like a natural evolution for the MCU’s street-level storytelling. It’s something that many have been hoping to see ever since Matt Murdock first appeared alongside Peter Parker.

Marvel Studios and Sony are reportedly shifting their focus away from multiversal threats in favor of interconnected stories centered on New York’s grounded heroes. If the report is true, then Spider-Man’s future may be a lot different from that in the reality-bending film ‘No Way Home’

Rather than fighting enemies from the multiverse, Peter Parker might be joining forces with Matt Murdock, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and other street-level heroes to fight crime closer to home.

It’s an exciting prospect for many fans. Daredevil and the Defenders have always been a natural fit for Spider-Man, who has been one of Marvel’s most street-level heroes. Marvel seems to be creating a connected patch of the MCU that’s centered around crime, vigilantes, and street heroes.

With Jon Bernthal’s Punisher also appearing in ‘Brand New Day,‘ it all seems connected. However, Marvel Studios and Sony haven’t officially confirmed the report.

It’s also noteworthy that the Defenders have already started to make their mark in the MCU. So this rumor comes at a time when they are already making an impact. Following the end of the Marvel tie-in on Netflix, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist were all up for grabs for the next few years.

However, that all changed when ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ fully adopted the continuity of the original Netflix series with a return of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk. Also returning to the cast for the second season of the show were Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, who were previously members of the Defenders.

Now ‘Born Again’ Season 3 is set to bring back the whole team with Daredevil’s Danny Rand returning to the show, and the Defenders will reunite for the first time in years. If Marvel keeps developing this part of the universe, then maybe Spider-Man can meet these heroes on a larger scale in the future.
