The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for its intricate storytelling and attention to detail. However, even the most carefully planned films can undergo changes during production.
One such change involved the character of Lady Death, who was originally intended to appear in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. Moreover, this was because the Russo Brothers decided against it.
The Russo Brothers Cut Lady Death Out Because Of Pacing Issues
Ross Marquand, the actor who portrayed Red Skull in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, revealed during a panel at the Edmonton Expo that there were plans to introduce Lady Death into the film. However, the Russo brothers, the directors of the movie, ultimately decided against it.

They believed that it was too late to introduce the character at that point in the Infinity Saga. Despite her absence, the filmmakers paid homage to Lady Death with a subtle easter egg. Red Skull’s cloak in the film was inspired by the one worn by Lady Death in the comics.
In the comics, Lady Death represents the end of life. Thanos is deeply infatuated with her and seeks her approval. His obsession with Lady Death is a major motivating factor in his quest for infinite power.
Introducing Lady Death into ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ would have added a new layer of complexity to Thanos’ character. It could’ve given the viewers a deeper understanding of the character’s motives. However, the director’s decision not to rush a character resulted in the film being what it was.
Ross Marquand Had Pitched For A Captain America Time Travel Series
Ross Marquand also previously shared his desire to see a series where Captain America travels back in time to return the Infinity Stones. “I keep pitching a show where Cap has to return all the stones. They do like an eight-part miniseries on Disney+ where he returns each stone and then of course he is going to go to Vormir. He has to,” he stated while talking at Comic-Com, as reported by Agents of Fandom.

Marquand expressed his enthusiasm for this idea and suggested that it could be explored either in a live-action series or an episode of ‘What If…?’. He further asserted that he believes that a time-traveling Captain America series would offer numerous opportunities for exciting storylines.
He particularly highlighted the potential for a confrontation between Steve Rogers and his old foe, Red Skull, on Vormir. Moreover, the actor believes that this interaction would be fascinating to watch, given their history. The idea of Captain America traveling back in time to undo the damage caused by Thanos is a compelling one for sure.
