Simu Liu made his MCU debut in ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ and instantly rose to prominence. Shang-Chi was one of the new MCU heroes to make his jump from comics to the big screen in the Multiverse saga in 2021 and was well-received.
Simu Liu revealed that he isn’t sure about appearing in the next MCU team-up project, although the Marvel star revealed a positive detail about the potential sequel of ‘Shang-Chi’.

Simu Liu Reveals His Charecter’s Future In MCU
During a recent interview with Comic Book, the ‘Barbie‘ star was asked about his future in the MCU including his character’s appearance in the upcoming Avengers project. Simu Liu revealed that he is still skeptical about his return to the MCU team-up project.
The actor said, “Oh man, I don’t know to be honest. I mean, those things are so above my pay grade. I just wanna continue to be a fan of it. You know, when I get a call of like, ‘Hey, this is what you’re in and this is where you’re going to show up. And, this is when you’re going to need to be blacked out for.’ That’s kind of generally what tends to happen.”
Liu opened up that he would love to see Shang-Chi being a part of the mainstream MCU, but for now, the decision depends on the executives.
Marvel Studios is going ahead with the sequel of ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘, as the film received positive reviews from critics and fans. However, the film’s plot and details are still kept under wraps. There are chances that ‘Shang-Chi 2‘, will be a part of Phase Seven rather than The Multiverse Saga.

Simu Liu Is In Awe Of Destin Daniel Cretton’s Work
Further into the interview, Simu Liu also appreciated the director Destin Daniel Cretton who was initially reeled in to direct ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty‘. Later in 2023 the director walked away from the project but promised to stay on board with ‘Shang-Chi 2’.
Liu praised Destin Daniel Cretton saying, “But, you know Destin is such a special filmmaker and we’re very happy to have him on the sequel. So, he’ll be working on that and we’re really excited to see what he comes up with. I think he’s going to do a brilliant job.”
After the success of ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ in 2021, Cretton signed an overall deal with Marvel Studios. Finally, after 2021 the duo will be back for ‘Shang-Chi 2’.
