The Marvel Cinematic Universe has enjoyed a massive box-office collection since its very first movie ‘Iron Man‘ in 2008. Eventually, the universe expanded introducing a wide extent of superheroes. But after the original six exited the mainstream and new characters were introduced, MCU hit an iceberg, with degraded cinematic effects and bland storylines.

From a secret agent to a part of the Avengers, Natasha Romanoff becomes a beloved member of the team, and her sacrifice in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ makes the audience weep. But her solo project should have been released before Black Widow’s demise so that the fans could witness her character growth and a deeper outlook on her character. Due to many issues including the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie became one of the biggest box office bombs of 2020.
4. The Incredible Hulk
Mark Ruffalo has become the epitome of Hulk and it is impossible to imagine that it was played by Edward Norton. ‘The Incredible Hulk’ was widely criticized for its shallow storytelling and it’s easily the lowest-grossing MCU film to date. The movie stands as one of the least popular Marvel movies, as it didn’t even manage to make two times its budget.
3. Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania
The third installment of Ant-Man’s story, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ introduced a new villain, Kang the Conqueror, and concepts like the Multiverse Saga to the MCU. Marvel Studios didn’t expect it, but it definitely tanked at the box office with an IMDb rating of 6.1. Additionally, with Jonathan Majors’ recent legal problems, the film failed to have the impact on the MCU that its creators had expected. ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is one of the worst MCU movies so far.

2. Eternals
Even though ‘Eternals’ tried to break the MCU’s mold, fans complained about its rambling plot and underdeveloped characters. Grossing just over two times its large budget, the film was undoubtedly one of the MCU’s biggest disappointments, especially financially. It was also poorly received by critics for its screenplay.

‘The Marvels’ is a sequel to 2019’s ‘Captain Marvel’ and is the 33rd film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the third in Phase Five. According to Variety, ‘The Marvels’ box office took a huge hit in its second weekend after earning the lowest opening weekend of the entire MCU. It has now grossed an additional $10.2 million at the domestic box office, a staggering drop of 79%.
